The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is strategizing for the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, aiming to provide the national team with ample 50-over match practice before the tournament. Secretary Devajit Saikia mentioned that the BCCI is charting a clear path towards the World Cup, scheduled for October-November 2027, involving selectors, support staff, and the head coach in the long-term planning process.
Saikia emphasized that the BCCI is organizing a series of ODI matches leading up to the 2027 ODI World Cup to ensure adequate preparation. The team has been announced for the three ODI matches in England, set to take place from July 14 to 19, as part of this strategic planning.
In collaboration with the team management and selectors, the BCCI is meticulously planning to equip India for the global event, focusing on comprehensive preparation and coordination among all stakeholders. The selectors, support staff, and head coach are working in unison to optimize the team’s readiness for the upcoming World Cup cycle.
As India gears up for the next ODI World Cup cycle post its 2023 final appearance, the BCCI is keen on maintaining its strong position in the 50-over format. The upcoming ODI series in England is viewed as an opportunity for the team management to evaluate strategies, assess player combinations, and fine-tune their approach towards the 2027 tournament.
With over a year remaining before the culmination of the World Cup cycle, the BCCI is committed to preventing any dearth of ODI cricket, ensuring a well-defined pathway for players aspiring to secure spots in India’s squad for the prestigious tournament.
