BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia recently met with the Indian cricket team to discuss their preparations for the upcoming match against the USA at the Wankhede Stadium. Saikia also inspected the stadium arrangements in anticipation of the opening ceremony before the game. He shared photos of his visit on X, where he was seen interacting with skipper Suryakumar Yadav, coach Gautam Gambhir, and the ground management team.
Saikia, in his visit, oversaw the final-minute preparations of Team India and reviewed the hosting arrangements for the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup 2026, commencing at the Wankhede Stadium. Additionally, the BCCI secretary announced a cash prize of 7.5 crore rupees for the victorious India U19 team, who recently secured the U19 World Cup title by defeating England in the final match.
The senior Indian team, led by Surya Kumar Yadav, aims to make history in the upcoming T20 World Cup as defending champions. If successful, they would be the first team to defend their title and win on home soil. India, having won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and 2024, seeks to secure a third title this year. Placed in Group A, India will face Pakistan, the Netherlands, Namibia, and the USA, with the top two teams advancing to the Super 8 round.
