Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against 29 social media accounts for sharing fake bikini videos and photos of actress Rukmini Vasanth, known for her role in the film ‘Kantara Chapter-2’. The police are taking strict action against these accounts, which include 9 Instagram accounts, 14 ‘X’ accounts, and 6 Facebook pages.

An investigation has been launched under Sections 66C and 66D of the Information Technology Act, along with Sections 75(3), 79, 336, 356, 351, 352, and 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) by the cybercrime police. Actress Rukmini Vasanth had lodged a complaint at the Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police Station, alleging that her face was superimposed on another person’s body using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and deepfake technology to create fake visuals.

The actress expressed that this act caused her significant embarrassment and was a deliberate attempt to damage her reputation and character. Legal action has been taken against those responsible for generating and spreading the manipulated visuals using AI and deepfake technology. Rukmini Vasanth clarified that the AI-generated bikini photos and videos circulating online were fake and urged people not to misuse AI for harmful purposes.

She emphasized that the content was entirely fabricated and irresponsible, violating her privacy. Rukmini Vasanth and her team discovered manipulated images online and stressed the seriousness of creating and sharing such content. The actress confirmed that legal and cybercrime actions were being pursued against the perpetrators behind the fake content.

During a private event in Bengaluru, Rukmini Vasanth disclosed that she had lodged a complaint with the cyber police and expressed confidence in the authorities’ strict actions. She highlighted the need for using AI for positive purposes and not for harmful activities, expressing concern for the challenges faced by actresses and other women due to such incidents.

Rukmini Vasanth reiterated that the viral video was not authentic and warned of legal consequences for those involved in spreading the fake videos. She urged the public not to engage with or distribute such fabricated content on social media.

Rukmini Vasanth, the daughter of the late Indian Army officer Colonel Vasanth Venugopal and acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer Subhashini Vasanth, comes from a distinguished background. Colonel Vasanth was posthumously honored with the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime military award, for his bravery and sacrifice in combat in 2007.
