Six individuals, including two from other states and four locals, were apprehended by Bengaluru law enforcement for allegedly vending illicit drugs in Yeshwanthpur and Nandini Layout areas. The arrests stemmed from raids at Yeshwanthpur and Nandini Layout Police Stations following tips from informants. Charges were filed under the NDPS Act before the crackdown. The accused were purportedly engaged in procuring banned substances like MDMA and hydro ganja at low rates and reselling them at inflated prices to the public and students for profit.
During the operations, authorities confiscated 8.58 kg of MDMA, 5.7 kg of hydro ganja, four mobile phones used for communication, and a car from the suspects. The seized items are valued at Rs 10.05 crore, with an estimated market worth of Rs 20.10 crore, underscoring the operation’s magnitude. Efforts are ongoing to track down the unidentified suppliers, both local and inter-state, involved in providing narcotics to the accused.
All six detainees have been presented in court and remanded to judicial custody. The operation was overseen by Deputy Commissioner of Police B.S. Nemagouda and led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Mary Shylaja, supported by Police Inspectors Manjunatha S and Ganapathi R.L. In a separate incident, Bengaluru East Division Police nabbed three individuals, including an inter-state suspect, linked to a house burglary case at Indiranagar Police Station, recovering stolen assets valued at approximately Rs 1.15 crore.
The police have resolved 18 cases through this arrest, which was initiated on December 25, 2024, following a burglary report in B.M. Kaval. Subsequent investigations led to the detention of a suspect on March 22, who confessed to the burglary and implicated two others in multiple thefts across the city. The accomplices were apprehended in Makali and Chickpet, resulting in the recovery of 855 grams of gold jewelry and bars alongside cash. These arrests have helped solve 18 house burglary cases in Bengaluru.
Furthermore, in Bengaluru’s North East Division, police recovered 692 mobile phones of various brands, valued at Rs 1.75 crore, across 11 police station limits, in connection with lost or stolen phone cases.
