Cyberabad Police have apprehended ex-MLA Bolla Brahma Naidu from Andhra Pradesh in connection with a case involving an alleged plot to seize valuable government land worth around Rs 1,000 crore. The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader, the prime suspect in the case who had been on the run, was captured in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu.
This arrest followed the rejection of Naidu’s plea for anticipatory bail by the Telangana High Court. The case revolves around an alleged scheme to encroach upon a 10-acre government land parcel in Gandipet, utilizing forged Government Orders (G.O.s), counterfeit revenue records, and other fabricated documents to regularize the encroachment.
Authorities initiated the case on May 23 following a complaint by Gandipet tahsildar N. Srinivas Reddy. Several individuals, including members of the Nimmal family, Radhakrishna, and his driver Prabheen Kumar, have been arrested in connection with the investigation by Narsinghi Police and Cyberabad Police Economic Offences Wing.
Investigative findings suggest that Naidu, along with others, conspired to fabricate government orders and falsify official documents to unlawfully acquire government land. Financial transactions amounting to approximately Rs 12 crore were traced, with significant sums disbursed to various individuals to facilitate the creation of illegal land rights through fraudulent means.
In light of the gravity of the case, the stage of investigation, and the prima facie evidence, the Telangana High Court dismissed Brahma Naidu’s bail plea. Subsequently, Naidu was apprehended in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, and is currently in police custody pending legal proceedings.
Ongoing investigations are delving into the financial transactions linked to the case, the fabrication of forged documents, the misuse of government officials’ names and signatures, and the roles played by other individuals involved in the alleged conspiracy.
