The Bengaluru police have filed another FIR against businessman M. Kripalani, who was previously arrested for alleged blackmail and sexual assault of a female Customs officer. This new case, initiated by a complaint from Customs officer D. Anthony, is registered at the Halasuru Police Station. Anthony, a Customs Superintendent in Mangaluru, had penalized Kripalani around Rs 8.50 lakh in an earlier smuggling case.
Kripalani is accused of seeking revenge for the penalty imposed on him by Anthony. Allegedly, he made death threats to one of Anthony’s colleagues, warning that Anthony, his wife, and children would face dire consequences. The Halasuru police have registered a case against Kripalani under specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Already in custody for a separate case involving similar charges, Kripalani is accused of blackmailing a female Customs officer and coercing her with threats to release private photos and videos. The woman officer, unable to tolerate the harassment, reported the incident to the police. Initially, a rape case was filed against Kripalani at the Yelahanka Police Station before being transferred to the Indiranagar Police Station for further inquiry.
The woman officer has leveled serious accusations against Kripalani, claiming he engaged in illicit transactions to evade Customs scrutiny. Investigations have revealed that Kripalani, posing as being romantically involved with the woman officer, exploited her trust to extract sensitive Customs information. He allegedly manipulated this data to file false complaints against Customs officers and extort money from them. Authorities suspect that several Customs officials may have fallen victim to his schemes and encourage any affected individuals to come forward and report their experiences. Further investigations are ongoing.
