An incident involving a Bengaluru Police Inspector allegedly harassing a woman with a history of criminal activities has been exposed. The inspector, identified as Papanna from Konanakunte police station, faces accusations of pressuring the woman for entertainment, as revealed in viral audio clips and messages circulating on social media. The victim has lodged a complaint with the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, seeking action against the accused officer.
The victim has claimed that her previous complaints against the inspector yielded no results. She alleged that the inspector, citing his connection to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s family, threatened her, asserting his immunity from consequences. Despite submitting evidence, the police have not taken action against the accused officer, as per the victim’s statements.
In her complaint, the woman detailed instances of harassment by Inspector Papanna, including receiving inappropriate messages on WhatsApp and facing verbal advances. She recounted incidents dating back to 2016 when the inspector initiated contact and escalated to sending explicit messages, leading to threats when she attempted to report the misconduct. The victim emphasized the urgency of holding the inspector accountable to prevent further exploitation of women.
The woman, known as a rowdy sheeter at Basavanagudi police station, was recently arrested under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act, 2000, in connection with a kidnapping case involving a prominent real estate businessman. Authorities disclosed that she is implicated in approximately 10 cases across various police stations in Bengaluru.
