In a significant anti-drug operation, Bengaluru police confiscated over 35 kg of illegal narcotics valued at about Rs 5.70 crore and apprehended 11 suspected drug dealers. The seized items included 2 kg of MDMA, 1.767 kg of hydro ganja, and 32.920 kg of ganja, along with cash amounting to Rs 5.90 lakh, two iPhones, and a two-wheeler.
The crackdown was conducted in areas under the Vidyaranyapura, JB Nagar, Devanahalli, and Hebbagodi police stations following intelligence on the illicit drug trade.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to engaging in drug peddling for quick profits, sourcing drugs from out-of-state suppliers at lower rates and selling them at inflated prices, even to college students.
Efforts are underway to track down the unidentified suppliers who allegedly provided the drugs to the accused, with a thorough investigation being pursued from all angles. All 11 suspects have been presented in court and remanded to judicial custody.
The operation was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) G.K. Mithun Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Vikram Amte, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Electronics City) M. Narayan.
Among the seizures, the Vidyaranyapura police recovered MDMA valued at around Rs 4 crore, JB Nagar police seized hydro ganja and cash totaling Rs 1.37 crore, Devanahalli police confiscated ganja worth approximately Rs 16.70 lakh, and Hebbagodi police recovered ganja valued at around Rs 16 lakh.
In a separate incident, Bengaluru police arrested a house help for theft from her employer, recovering 262 grams of gold jewelry, 2.366 kg of silver biscuits and articles, Rs 65,000 cash, and five silk sarees, amounting to Rs 50 lakh. The accused confessed to the theft during interrogation and led the police to the stolen items at her residence in Poorna Prajna Layout. The recovery operation was overseen by Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Division, K. Vamsi Krishna.
