Bharat Dynamics has clinched a significant contract worth Rs 1,347.71 crore from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for producing military equipment, including helicopter-mounted missile launchers. The deal encompasses Helina Launchers and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) valued at Rs 1,109.37 crore, along with Counter Measures Dispensing System LRUs amounting to Rs 238.34 crore.
The manufacturing of these items is scheduled to be completed within a timeframe of 24 to 60 months, as stated by Bharat Dynamics in its disclosure to the stock exchanges. Helina (Helicopter-launched NAG) is an indigenous third-generation anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). These Helina Launchers are specialized mounts installed on Indian military helicopters like the HAL Rudra and HAL Prachand to deploy the missiles against heavily armored enemy targets.
Counter Measures Dispensing System LRUs are essential components of an aircraft’s defensive self-protection suite, designed to dispense chaff and flares automatically or manually to counter radar-guided or infrared-seeking missiles targeting the helicopters. Bharat Dynamics is primarily engaged in the production of missiles and torpedoes in collaboration with DRDO.
