The birth anniversary of Bhimrao Ambedkar will be celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion across Madhya Pradesh. The main event will take place at his birthplace in Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) in Indore district. Mhow, situated around 25 km from Indore, holds significant historical importance as the birthplace of Dr. Ambedkar.
The town is not only known for being Dr. Ambedkar’s birthplace but also serves as a prominent military cantonment hosting important Indian Army institutions. Every year, Mhow becomes a focal point for tributes on Ambedkar Jayanti, drawing thousands of visitors from all over the country. Devotees have been arriving in large numbers since April 12, with a substantial turnout expected this year as well.
The main program will be conducted at the grand memorial constructed at Dr. Ambedkar’s birthplace, specially adorned for the occasion. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will grace the event as the chief guest. The Indore district administration has ensured elaborate arrangements for visitors’ convenience, with accommodation provided in dharmshalas, schools, and temporary dome-shaped shelters.
Meals are being served at the Swarg Mandir complex, and drinking water kiosks have been set up throughout the town. Temporary sanitation facilities have also been put in place. To manage the large gathering, the event area has been divided into seven sectors, with officials assigned to each sector for coordination. Indore Collector Shivam Verma visited Mhow to oversee preparations and provide necessary guidance to officials.
Apart from the celebrations in Mhow, the Madhya Pradesh government is working on preserving and promoting Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy. In Gwalior, a significant project called ‘Ambedkar Dham’ is underway, featuring a grand statue of Dr. Ambedkar, a museum, auditorium, and digital library. This initiative aims to establish a key center for education and inspiration, further solidifying Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy in the state.
