Bhojpuri actor and singer Khesari Lal Yadav visited Bilauti village in Bhojpur district to meet the family of Bharat Tiwari, who died in a police encounter, causing controversy in Bihar. During the visit, Yadav offered condolences and financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to the grieving family. He encouraged them to continue their pursuit of justice and take their demands to wider public platforms.
Yadav emphasized the family’s role in seeking justice and pledged his ongoing support whenever needed. He advised against letting the issue be limited to the village and urged them to keep their movement alive. Addressing concerns about the investigation, he questioned the impartiality of the process due to the involvement of the same police system.
In response to demands for a fair inquiry, Bihar ADG (Law and Order) Sudhanshu Kumar disclosed that a DIG had been assigned to investigate the case. Two FIRs were filed, and a judicial inquiry led by a retired High Court judge was initiated for transparency. The ADG stressed that encounters should not be seen as achievements and clarified that force should only be used in self-defence situations.
The police had taken disciplinary action against personnel for negligence during the incident. The Station House Officer (SHO) and other officials were suspended, with departmental proceedings initiated. The encounter took place following a video allegedly showing Tiwari with a pistol, leading to conflicting reports of the events. The incident has sparked protests, political reactions, and calls for judicial intervention, drawing significant attention in Bihar.
