Bhopal Divisional Commissioner Karmveer Sharma has issued directives to enhance aviation safety and improve civic management in the vicinity of Raja Bhoj Airport. At a meeting of the Airfield Environment Management Committee, Sharma emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among various departments to uphold security, cleanliness, and environmental standards around the airport.
The Commissioner instructed authorities to intensify surveillance, regulate construction activities, and eliminate potential hazards near the airport. Key measures include increased police patrolling, installation of streetlights in vulnerable areas, and strict enforcement of building regulations within the airport’s regulated zone.
Sharma also highlighted the importance of obtaining necessary approvals, such as No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Airports Authority of India, before commencing any construction work near the airport. Additionally, restrictions on laser beams and high-intensity lights, monitoring of safety violations, and inspections of nearby establishments were emphasized to ensure compliance with aviation safety standards.
To minimize bird activity, the Municipal Corporation was tasked with maintaining cleanliness around garbage collection points near the airport. Furthermore, measures such as deploying dog squads to prevent stray animals from entering airport premises and conducting regular inspections of trees to eliminate potential risks to aircraft operations were also mandated.
