A Bhopal court rejected a defense request for retired judge Giribala Singh to visit her home concerning a recent burglary. The court stated that such requests must be formally submitted. The defense made this plea during a CBI investigation into actress-model Twisha Sharma’s death.
Giribala Singh and her son, advocate Samarth Singh, appeared in court via video conferencing after their previous judicial remand ended. The defense informed the court about the burglary at Giribala Singh’s residence and asked for permission to visit the police station area for identifying the targeted items.
The CBI opposed the request, emphasizing that the burglary and Twisha Sharma’s death investigation were distinct matters beyond the current proceedings. The court, after hearing both sides, clarified that oral requests cannot be granted and advised the defense to file a written application for any relief sought.
The CBI requested an extension of the judicial custody for both accused, citing ongoing investigations. The defense objected, stating that no new grounds were presented to justify the extension. Following the arguments, the court extended the judicial remand of Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh until July 14.
Counsel for Twisha Sharma’s family mentioned that the CBI filed two applications before the court. One application sought voice samples of the accused for comparison with collected audio recordings, while the second concerned a laptop seized from Samarth Singh, which was password-protected. The court scheduled a hearing on July 3 for the CBI’s applications regarding voice samples and laptop access.
The burglary at Giribala Singh’s residence, occurring on June 27-28, is under separate investigation by the local police.
