A Bhopal district court has rejected a request for a second post-mortem examination of model and actor Twisha Sharma. Her family had sought a fresh autopsy at AIIMS Delhi, claiming discrepancies in the investigation. The court dismissed the plea for a second examination at AIIMS Delhi.
The court addressed the issue of preserving Twisha Sharma’s body, currently stored at AIIMS Bhopal. Authorities at AIIMS Bhopal informed the court that the body must be kept at -80 degrees Celsius to prevent decomposition, a facility not available in Bhopal. A letter has been ordered to check for low-temperature storage options in other medical institutions.
Bhopal Police warned Twisha Sharma’s father about the risk of decomposition due to the lack of ultra-low temperature storage at AIIMS Bhopal. The court was informed that the accused, Samarth Singh, is absconding, with a reward announced for his arrest. There are concerns that the accused might attempt to flee abroad, leading to requests for passport actions.
Advocate Enosh George Carlo, representing the accused Samarth Singh, filed an application for further proceedings under the CrPC. The court scheduled the matter for the production of the police report and subsequent actions on May 23.
