Veteran cricketer Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s outstanding performance for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Mumbai Indians has garnered admiration from former India player Ambati Rayudu. Rayudu lauded Kumar’s skill and control, labeling him as ‘an artist now’ for his display in Raipur. The 36-year-old bowler claimed an impressive 4-23 to disrupt MI’s batting lineup and sealed a crucial six in the final over, securing RCB a tense two-wicket win. This victory not only knocked MI out of the playoffs race but also propelled Kumar to the top of the Purple Cap standings with 21 wickets.
Former India wicketkeeper-batter Deep Dasgupta attributed Bhuvneshwar’s success to his ‘cricketing IQ’ in effectively utilizing his abilities with both bat and ball. Dasgupta highlighted Kumar’s regained control and backspin on the ball, emphasizing the impact it had on opposing batters. Despite not being the fastest bowler, Kumar’s precise release and variations in pace have proven effective, leaving batsmen struggling to keep up with his deliveries.
Ambati Rayudu recalled how Kumar’s match-winning six was a shot he had practiced diligently during his training sessions. Rayudu noted that Kumar’s strength lies in hitting shots over covers, a skill he executed flawlessly against MI. The bowler’s strategic execution of the shot, as per Rayudu, showcased his prowess and determination, ultimately securing victory for RCB.
