The Bihar Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, wrapped up its last session at the CM’s Secretariat, signaling a significant moment in the state’s political history. This final meeting, attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha along with ministers from all departments, lasted around 20 minutes. Nitish Kumar formally announced his resignation during the session, paving the way for the government’s dissolution.
Sources revealed that a crucial proposal regarding the government’s dissolution was presented and unanimously approved during the meeting. This consensus now sets the stage for the formal constitutional procedures to dissolve the current administration. Despite its brevity, the meeting held immense emotional significance as it marked the conclusion of Nitish Kumar’s tenure.
Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav, speaking to the media post-meeting, described the atmosphere as deeply emotional. He shared that the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to all, including government officials and political leaders, for their support over the years. Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha also reflected on the government’s journey during the meeting.
While specifics of the internal discussions remain undisclosed, attendees characterized the mood as somber and emotional. Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar participated in an event at the Patna High Court to commemorate B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. The event, attended by notable leaders like Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, and Ashok Choudhary, was disrupted briefly when a swarm of bees attacked, causing panic and minor injuries among participants.
Senior leader Sanjay Jha praised Nitish Kumar’s 21-year public service, highlighting his focus on development and governance that elevated Bihar’s stature nationally and internationally.
