The Bihar Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, is all set for expansion at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Thursday. The swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for 12.10 p.m., will witness the induction of new ministers by the Governor. This event signifies a significant moment in Bihar’s political landscape, following Nitish Kumar’s resignation and Choudhary’s appointment as Chief Minister on April 14.
Speculation is rife about the potential inclusion of Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, in the Cabinet. Notable political figures like Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President Nitin Nabin have already arrived in Patna for the ceremony. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has also confirmed his attendance.
The Cabinet expansion comes after thorough consultations between state and central NDA leadership, with inputs from senior BJP members. Discussions with NDA allies like Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Chirag Paswan were crucial in maintaining coalition balance. A meeting between Choudhary and JD(U) National President Nitish Kumar emphasized unity within the NDA.
In preparation for the event, traffic management in Patna has been revamped, with strict restrictions on various routes. Several key roads, including those from Sheikhpura Mor to the airport, will be closed. The corridor from Patel Roundabout to Income Tax Roundabout has been designated a “No-Entry Zone.” Enhanced security measures are in place ahead of the anticipated visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries.
