As the nation marks the 77th Republic Day, Bihar commemorated the occasion with a grand state-level event at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan raised the national flag in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other dignitaries. The ceremony included a parade with 21 contingents, showcasing Bihar’s developmental efforts.
Before unfurling the Tricolour, Governor Khan reviewed the ceremonial parade, saluting the participating contingents. Various colorful tableaux from 12 Bihar government departments were displayed, highlighting the state’s progress. The Transport Department secured the top spot in the tableau competition, followed by the Agriculture Department and the Energy Department.
Governor Khan addressed the audience, announcing plans to create job opportunities for one crore people in Bihar over the next five years. He mentioned that 10 lakh individuals have already secured government jobs, with 40 lakh others gaining employment. The Governor also emphasized infrastructure development, noting improved road connectivity reducing travel time to Patna to five hours from any part of the state.
Highlighting healthcare initiatives, Governor Khan revealed ongoing construction of medical colleges in 27 districts, increasing Bihar’s total medical colleges to twelve from six in 2005. He underscored women’s empowerment through 50% reservation in local bodies, citing positive social impacts. Additionally, he mentioned financial support for women under the Jeevika program and plans for educational institutions in every block.
During the parade, the Special Task Force (STF) and NCC Army Boys received awards for their parade performances. The SSB and NCC were recognized as the Best Platoon Commanders in professional and non-professional categories, respectively. The celebrations at Gandhi Maidan showcased patriotism, constitutional values, and Bihar’s dedication to inclusive progress.
