Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the extension of the Patna Metro Rail Project up to Malahi Pakri, marking a significant milestone in the city’s metro network expansion. BJP State President Sanjay Saraogi hailed this development as a pivotal day for the state, emphasizing the positive impact on urban connectivity and the residents of Bihar.
The extension includes the operation of two new stations, Khemnichak Metro Station and Malahipakri Metro Station, on the Blue Line of the Patna Metro. This addition further extends the existing operational corridor, enhancing the reach and accessibility of the metro network in the region.
During a recent review meeting on June 29 at Lok Sewak Awas in Patna, Chief Minister Choudhary closely monitored the progress of the Patna Metro Rail Project. He set clear timelines for project phases, ensuring timely completion of all construction activities without compromising on quality. Additionally, he directed officials to expedite work across project sites and implement effective traffic management strategies to minimize disruptions for commuters and local residents.
The Patna Metro Rail Project, approved in 2019, consists of two corridors: Line 1 (Red Line) connecting Danapur Cantonment with Khemnichak and Line 2 (Blue Line) linking Patna Junction with the New ISBT. Currently, metro services operate on a 4.3 km stretch with three stations, and upon project completion, the network will span nearly 32.5 km with 24 stations, significantly enhancing public transport infrastructure in Patna.
