Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has set a goal to attract investments totaling nearly Rs 5 lakh crore to Bihar by November 20, 2026. He revealed plans for rapid rail connectivity linking key cities like Gaya, Rajgir, and Muzaffarpur within around 40 minutes during a media event organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party to commemorate 12 years of the Union government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Choudhary emphasized Bihar’s growing appeal to investors, citing ongoing projects in cement manufacturing, beverage production, and data centers. To streamline industrial approvals, the government has established a 30-day deadline for granting permissions, with automatic approvals slated to follow thereafter.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s infrastructure development, including expansions in road, electricity, rail, and aviation sectors. Projects are underway for additional airports, airstrips, and helipad facilities following airport developments in Darbhanga and Purnea. The proposed rapid rail corridor connecting Rajgir, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur is a key focus for modernizing transport infrastructure.
Choudhary reiterated a zero-tolerance stance on corruption and detailed the “Sahyog” initiative for public service delivery. Under this mechanism, citizens can submit grievances online, with resolutions expected within 30 days, failing which action will be taken against responsible officials. The objective is to establish a citizen-centric administrative system ensuring transparent and timely public service delivery.
Addressing reservation policies, Choudhary noted the broadened scope of reservation benefits across various societal segments, except for economically affluent groups. He highlighted the constitutional status granted to the National Commission for Backward Classes by the PM Modi-led government and the application of the “creamy layer” principle to both backward classes and economically weaker sections among upper castes.
