Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the JP Ganga Path in Patna, also known as Patna’s Marine Drive, to review the ongoing plantation and beautification work. He urged officials to expedite the project for timely completion. Kumar emphasized public safety and smooth traffic flow along the Ganga River park, foreseeing it as a future major attraction.
The JP Ganga Path, a 20.5-kilometer stretch along the Ganga River in Patna, has become a significant city attraction. Constructed by the Bihar State Road Construction Corporation Limited at a cost of Rs 3,831 crore, the four-lane Marine Drive connects key locations like Digha, Gandhi Maidan, and Patna University. It also links to major routes such as JP Setu and the Patna Ring Road.
Initiated on Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan’s birth anniversary in 2013, the JP Ganga Path has notably reduced travel time in Patna. Commuters can now travel from Digha to Didarganj in just 20–25 minutes, a significant improvement from the earlier one-and-a-half to two hours. The road has also enhanced emergency and medical connectivity, particularly benefiting patients from North Bihar districts.
