Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced his decision to run in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, leading to significant political commotion in Patna. Following this revelation, a large crowd of Janata Dal (United) workers gathered outside the Chief Minister’s residence, expressing discontent and alleging a premeditated scheme to oust him. The protest escalated as emotions ran high among the workers, occasionally turning unruly.

The situation intensified further when Bihar Minister Surendra Mehta faced vehement opposition upon his arrival at the CM’s residence. Protesters encircled and obstructed his vehicle, prompting security personnel to intervene to ensure his safe departure from the scene. Meanwhile, JD(U) leader Lallan Sarraf also encountered a similar scenario as agitated workers surrounded him, chanting slogans in support of Nitish Kumar.

Expressing deep concern, another party leader, Rajiv Kumar, lamented, “The people of Bihar are in distress. We campaigned in Nitish Kumar’s name until 2030. Now, no one seems to care. What will happen if Nitish departs?” Nitish Kumar is anticipated to submit his nomination papers with the accompaniment of BJP National President Nitin Nabin. Additionally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to visit Patna, underscoring the national significance of the event.

Against the backdrop of these political developments, stringent security measures have been implemented. Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma personally oversaw the security arrangements at the Chief Minister’s residence. Notably, additional police forces have been stationed at both entry points of the CM’s residence, with the area placed on high alert status. The unfolding events have triggered intense speculation regarding Bihar’s future political landscape, with more clarity expected post the formal nomination process.
