Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has instructed officials to speed up the distribution of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections, particularly in housing complexes like apartments and residential colonies. This directive was given during a review meeting of the Food and Consumer Protection Department at the Chief Minister’s residence.
During the meeting, the secretary of the food and consumer affairs, Abhay Kumar Singh, provided a detailed report on the current status of fuel supply in Bihar. The report highlighted that Bihar already has 1.12 lakh operational PNG connections, with 25,813 applications in process and plans to expand the PNG infrastructure.
Emphasizing the importance of extending PNG access to densely populated housing units, the Chief Minister stressed that this move would enhance coverage and convenience for residents. He urged officials to prioritize PNG connections in apartments and colonies, ensure efficient implementation at the grassroots level, and maximize public convenience.
Reviewing the availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG in the state, the Chief Minister assured that Bihar has sufficient fuel supply and urged citizens not to panic. Additionally, he encouraged the public to use four-wheelers only when necessary and consider adopting electric vehicles (EVs) to reduce fuel dependency and pollution.
The meeting, attended by senior officials and representatives from major oil companies, took place against the backdrop of the global energy crisis and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to conserve fuel.
