The Bihar Home Department has taken action by suspending the Deputy Superintendent of Gaya Central Jail. Sudarshan Prasad Singh faces allegations of negligence, violating prison rules, and colluding with inmates. The suspension follows claims of failure to report cannabis recovery, unauthorized inmate meetings, security protocol breaches, staff misbehavior, and inmate mistreatment.
During the suspension, Sudarshan Prasad Singh will be stationed at Khudiram Bose Central Jail in Muzaffarpur. The incident leading to the suspension occurred during a search operation on June 16, where cannabis was found in an inmate’s possession. Allegations suggest Singh did not file an FIR as instructed by the Jail Superintendent, leading to disciplinary action.
Reports indicate that Singh allowed unauthorized meetings between inmates and visitors, bypassing security measures. Despite warnings, these actions allegedly persisted. Complaints from jail personnel also surfaced, accusing Singh of using abusive language, aggression towards guards, and unjustified physical assaults on inmates. A departmental inquiry will now investigate these allegations thoroughly.
If the inquiry confirms the charges, further disciplinary measures, possibly including dismissal, could be taken against Sudarshan Prasad Singh.
