The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police conducted raids at five locations linked to Ankesh Kumar Gond, an Excise Inspector in Siwan, as part of a disproportionate assets (DA) case. The EOU’s anti-corruption drive targets public servants suspected of owning assets beyond their known income sources. Preliminary investigations revealed that Gond had amassed assets exceeding his legitimate earnings, leading to the registration of an FIR under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The agency’s findings suggest that Gond allegedly acquired assets valued at around Rs 2.36 crore more than his known income. This amount represents a disproportionate increase of 201.97% compared to his lawful earnings. The raids, authorized by the Special Vigilance Court in Patna, were carried out simultaneously at various locations, including Gond’s residence and office premises.
Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) officers, the EOU teams scrutinized property documents, bank records, and other financial evidence during the searches. The ongoing operation aims to verify assets and financial transactions to support the investigation. The EOU plans to release a detailed inventory of seized documents and materials once the search operation concludes.
