The Bihar government has reassured the Legislative Assembly of its commitment to resolving land-related disputes efficiently. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha emphasized the implementation of concrete and time-bound measures to prevent these disputes from burdening future generations. The ongoing survey of unsurveyed lands aims to be completed within the next two years, prioritizing the accurate recording of non-disputed land parcels to avert potential conflicts.
In response to public grievances, Sinha disclosed that approximately 4.6 million complaints were received, predominantly concerning record corrections such as errors in names, accounts, and land records like Khasra numbers. He urged officials to expedite the resolution of these cases to alleviate citizens’ unnecessary hardships. Meanwhile, opposition members staged protests before the House proceedings, with RJD MLAs highlighting issues of crime and unemployment in Bihar, while Congress MLA Abhishek Ranjan symbolically protested the government’s alleged avoidance of discussing the state’s crime situation.
The opposition’s demands for discussions on various cases, including the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant, the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Darbhanga, and rape incidents in different districts, were met with resistance from the government. Despite the disruptions caused by the protests, the House proceedings commenced amidst the opposition’s demonstrations and slogans.
