The Bihar government has announced significant promotions for its IPS officers, enhancing the senior leadership within the Bihar Police. Among the promotions, ADG Headquarters Kundan Krishnan has been elevated to the rank of Director General (DG). Additionally, five IPS officers on central deputation and three DIG-rank officers in the state have been promoted to Inspector General (IG).
The Home Department has also raised 22 SP-rank officers to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and promoted 12 IPS officers to the Senior Scale. Notably, 22 IPS officers from the 2012 batch have been promoted to the DIG rank. These promotions, effective from January 1, 2026, have been carried out in compliance with the Indian Police Service (IPS) rules based on the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC).
The announcement of these promotions has brought joy to many officers who had been awaiting advancement for a considerable period. The list of officers promoted to the DIG rank includes well-known and experienced individuals like Akash Kumar, Anand Kumar, Kumar Ashish, and others. This move is expected to bolster the senior leadership structure of the Bihar Police, with a focus on enhancing administrative efficiency and strengthening policing across the state in the upcoming year.
