The Bihar government has transferred BAS officer Pritam Kumar, who was serving as the Personal Secretary to the Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) in New Delhi. Pritam Kumar has been appointed as Deputy General Manager (Human Resources and Administration) at NHIDCL, according to a notification from the General Administration Department. This move is part of a recent trend of deputing Bihar government officers to Central government organizations.
Pritam Kumar, who was previously the government-appointed Personal Secretary to Tejashwi Yadav, was relieved of his duties and directed to join his new role in New Delhi. He had been serving as Tejashwi Yadav’s Personal Secretary since February 2022, following a reshuffle involving Bihar Administrative Service and Indian Administrative Service officers. The Bihar government has not yet announced a replacement for Pritam Kumar in his former role.
Several IAS, IPS, and other state service officers from Bihar have been sent on central deputation to various departments and public sector organizations under the Union government. Tejashwi Yadav, currently the Bihar Leader of the Opposition, holds a position with Cabinet rank under state government provisions. The state government is authorized to appoint a Personal Secretary to assist the Leader of the Opposition in official and administrative duties.
