The NDA government in Bihar, led by Samrat Choudhary, has implemented a significant bureaucratic reshuffle by transferring over a dozen IPS officers. Paresh Saxena, formerly ADG-cum-Additional Commissioner of Civil Defence, is now the Director General-cum-Commissioner of Civil Defence as per the General Administration Department’s notification. Nirmal Kumar Azad, the previous ADG of Technical Services and Communication, has been appointed as the Director General of Police (Training).
The recent administrative changes follow the Bihar cabinet’s expansion under Samrat Choudhary’s leadership, where ministers from the BJP and its allies were inducted and portfolios were allocated. Sudhanshu Kumar has been given the responsibility of ADG (Law and Order), transitioning from his role as the Additional Director General of the State Crime Records Bureau and Modernisation. Dr Amit Kumar Jain, who was the ADG of Prohibition and the State Narcotics Control Bureau, will now serve as the ADG of the Economic Offences Unit. Nayyar Hasnain Khan has been reassigned from the Economic Offences Unit to lead the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP).
Dr Kamal Kishore Singh has been named the ADG (Railways), while Ajitabh Kumar will now oversee the State Crime Records Bureau and Modernisation. Sanjay Singh, previously ADG (Training), will now hold the position of ADG (Budget, Appeals, and Welfare). Amit Lodha, an IPS officer, has been transferred from the State Crime Records Bureau to Technical Services and Communication as ADG. Amrit Raj, the former ADG of Security, has been appointed as the ADG (Cyber Crime and Security Unit), and Kase Suhita Anupam has been moved from Special Secretary in the Home Department to ADG (Weaker Sections). Vikas Vaibhav is the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Magadh Zone (Gaya).
Chhatranil Singh has been relieved of his duties as IGP of the Magadh Zone (Gaya) and appointed as Special Secretary in the Home Department. Railway IG P. Kannan is now in charge of IG (Provisioning), while Ranjit Kumar Mishra, the former IG of the Cyber Crime and Security Unit, will serve as the IG of the Criminal Investigation Department. Sanjay Kumar, the IG of the Bihar Special Armed Police, has been designated as the Inspector General of Police for the Special Branch.
