The Bihar Legislature’s Monsoon session concluded with political disagreements as Janata Dal-United (JD-U) criticized the absence of BJP MLC Pawan Singh and Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav. Neeraj Kumar, JD-U’s chief spokesperson, emphasized the importance of elected representatives actively engaging in legislative proceedings. He highlighted the role of the Legislature as a platform for addressing public issues and contributing to democracy.
Neeraj Kumar expressed disappointment over Pawan Singh’s limited participation in the House sessions, stressing that legislators should not only hold positions but also contribute to public welfare. He urged newly elected members to learn from senior legislators and actively participate in parliamentary traditions. Kumar hoped for improved attendance from Pawan Singh to better represent the public.
Despite criticism, BJP MLC Pawan Singh attended the final day of the Monsoon session and met with Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh along with senior BJP and JD-U leaders. Neeraj Kumar also questioned the absence of Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition, throughout the session, highlighting the constitutional duty of opposition leaders to hold the government accountable and address public concerns.
Neeraj Kumar sarcastically remarked on Tejashwi Yadav’s alleged absence for foreign mediation, questioning the seriousness of democratic responsibilities. He criticized the lack of attendance as undermining the electorate’s trust in democratic institutions. Responding to claims of Tejashwi Yadav caring for his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Kumar raised doubts citing purported foreign photographs of the opposition leader. Elected representatives, Kumar emphasized, have a duty to actively engage in legislative proceedings and represent public interests effectively.
