Ashok Kumar, a resident of Bihar’s Sheikhpura district, has transitioned from struggling with a small shop to running a thriving business, thanks to the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). This central government initiative supports individuals in setting up new micro-enterprises with minimal project costs through small loans. Kumar attributes his success to this scheme, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enabling his business growth.
His life took a positive turn when he embraced the PMEGP, expanding his modest shop and benefiting from the program. Initially facing financial challenges, Kumar’s determination to progress led him to seize the opportunities offered by the scheme. Leveraging its support, he transformed his small shop into a large furniture warehouse, producing a variety of furniture items that attract customers from Sheikhpura and neighboring areas.
Since the establishment of his warehouse, Kumar has experienced a significant rise in income, marking a remarkable transformation in his life. He emphasized the pivotal role of the PMEGP in empowering small shop owners like himself to realize their aspirations, highlighting how financial constraints often hinder progress but are overcome through such schemes. Kumar also noted that the program empowers rural youth to achieve self-reliance and establish enterprises locally.
