Ankur Abhishek, hailing from Husainabad village in Bihar’s Sheikhpura district, has gained popularity with his pasta business, which has expanded beyond his village borders. After losing his job, Ankur ventured into the pasta industry, supported by the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). This initiative not only provided him with a new identity but also brought recognition to his village for its unique culinary offerings.
Having previously worked in a private firm in Delhi, Ankur faced unemployment due to the pandemic in 2020, prompting his return to his hometown. Struggling to secure employment, he explored the PMEGP scheme, which offers government subsidies and bank loans to assist in establishing small to medium-sized enterprises. With the scheme’s support, Ankur launched a pasta-making venture that has now grown into a successful mini-enterprise.
Ankur’s pasta unit, initially a modest outlet, now operates on a larger scale, catering to markets in nearby districts like Nawada, Munger, Nalanda, and Lakhisarai. Despite initial challenges, Ankur’s dedication has led to the employment of around 8 to 9 individuals at his factory. He attributes his success to the PMEGP scheme and acknowledges the Prime Minister for creating such opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs like himself.
