Amid internal tensions in the Janata Dal (United), Bihar’s Building Construction Minister, Leshi Singh, responded to former MP Anand Mohan’s criticism of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Anand Mohan had stirred controversy by suggesting that Nitish Kumar’s political career was over. In contrast, Leshi Singh praised Nitish Kumar’s leadership, emphasizing his popularity among the people of Bihar, especially women and the underprivileged.
Leshi Singh highlighted that all decisions within the party are made under Nitish Kumar’s guidance and are well-received by party members. She affirmed that both governance and organizational strategies are effectively implemented under his leadership. Singh defended Nitish Kumar’s capabilities, stating that every decision, whether related to government policies or party matters, is made competently.
The minister cautioned against undermining the leadership, suggesting that such actions could weaken the party’s support base. She warned that any criticism of Nitish Kumar would be met with strong opposition from millions of supporters, particularly women. Addressing Anand Mohan’s comments about veteran leader Vashishtha Narayan Singh, she praised Singh’s selfless dedication to socialism and denied any signs of dissatisfaction.
Regarding speculation about Anand Mohan’s discontent stemming from his son not being included in the cabinet, Leshi Singh refrained from direct comments. However, she indicated that the party leadership would address challenges to its authority. She criticized Anand Mohan for questioning the leadership, suggesting it was unwarranted. Anand Mohan had alleged that decisions within JD(U) were influenced by a group of four individuals rather than Nitish Kumar, claiming that money, not merit, now dictated power dynamics within the party.
