The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation has announced free bus travel for all NEET candidates in the state before the re-conduct of the NEET-UG examination following an alleged paper leak. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary stated that students taking the re-exam on June 21 can avail themselves of this service by displaying their NEET admit cards. This initiative aims to assist numerous students and families by cutting down on travel costs during the exam period.
The decision to provide free transport comes after the cancellation of the NEET-UG exam held on May 3 due to a paper leak controversy. This move seeks to alleviate the financial burden on students and ensure smooth transportation to exam centers, especially for those coming from different districts. District administrations have been instructed to make necessary arrangements near bus stands, railway stations, and exam venues.
In addition to free bus travel, the state government has directed officials to offer essential facilities like drinking water, shaded waiting areas, and sattu to students and their parents. Authorities are also ensuring that candidates traveling from other districts face no inconvenience during their journey or while reaching the exam centers. Preparations for the re-examination are in full swing across various districts, focusing on traffic management, security measures, and additional transportation services.
NEET is a significant medical entrance exam in India, attracting a large number of aspirants annually for admission to medical colleges. The recent paper leak controversy and subsequent exam cancellation had placed financial and psychological strain on many students and families. It has been emphasized that the free travel benefit is contingent upon the presentation of a valid NEET admit card. Students are advised to commence their journeys early and carry their admit cards throughout the travel period. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary extended his best wishes to all exam takers.
