The Bihar Police took action by suspending the Khanpur Station House Officer (SHO) following the murder of BJP leader Rupak Sahani in Samastipur district. Sahani, a 24-year-old BJP booth president, was attacked by assailants near a temple in Shadipur village. Eyewitnesses reported that Sahani was shot by three to four assailants while sitting at a shop, leading to his tragic demise.
Samastipur Superintendent of Police, Arvind Pratap Singh, suspended the SHO due to negligence in handling the situation. Sahani, who previously served as the President of Shadipur Panchayat, had a long-standing association with the Bharatiya Janata Party. His brother, Deepak Sahani, holds a position in the BJP district IT cell.
The attackers fled on foot after the shooting, leaving Sahani critically injured. Despite being rushed to the Khanpur Community Health Centre, he was declared dead upon arrival. Police detained two suspects for questioning, with indications of a possible old rivalry based on prior complaints lodged by both parties at the police station.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established to thoroughly investigate all aspects of the case. Tension gripped the area post-incident, prompting the deployment of additional police forces to ensure law and order. BJP leaders have strongly denounced the murder, urging swift and severe punishment for the perpetrators.
