Bihar’s Munger Police will bring a suspected anti-national operative before a local court on Tuesday to request judicial remand for further questioning regarding an alleged terror plot and potential cross-border connections. The individual was apprehended on Monday and is believed to have been in communication with a cross-border network, with plans for a significant terror incident along with two accomplices. Authorities have clarified that the investigation is in its early stages, with all assertions being verified through scientific means.
Acting on specific intelligence, a raid in Milik Thanpur village led to the arrest of Mohammad Saddam, who attempted to escape during the operation and was found with a country-made pistol hidden in nearby bushes. A mobile phone seized from the suspect has been sent for forensic analysis. Investigators discovered that Saddam had been residing in Mumbai for the past few years and had contact with an individual known as Rana Bhai, suspected to have ties to a cross-border network.
Preliminary examination of the seized mobile phone revealed connections to Pakistani phone numbers and suspicious interactions on social media platforms. Police are conducting a thorough forensic analysis of digital evidence to ascertain the extent of these alleged associations. Initial inquiries suggest that Saddam, along with his two associates, was plotting a major terror event. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the two suspected accomplices.
An FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the law, and the investigation is under the supervision of senior police officers. The case is considered highly sensitive, with information being shared with central and other security agencies to explore potential links to a broader network. Tarapur SDPO Kumar Devendra emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation and the need to examine all aspects thoroughly before drawing conclusions.
Munger Police are actively pursuing the two absconding suspects, while forensic experts are examining the seized mobile phone and other electronic evidence.
