The Bihar Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) apprehended a government school headmaster in Patna district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. This arrest is part of Bihar’s anti-corruption campaign targeting government officials. The accused headmaster, Kunal Priyadarshi, was reportedly soliciting money to provide marksheets and academic certificates to students who had passed board exams.
A complaint lodged by Arun Kumar Singh from Gaurichak in Patna triggered the investigation. He accused Priyadarshi of demanding Rs 400 per student for issuing marksheets and College Leaving Certificates (CLC) to 152 students who had cleared the annual secondary examination. Following the complaint, a preliminary inquiry by the Vigilance Department substantiated the allegations, leading to the arrest of Priyadarshi red-handed while accepting the bribe.
After the arrest, the accused headmaster is under interrogation by vigilance officials. Subsequently, an FIR has been filed against him at the Vigilance police station in Patna. The case will progress through the legal system, with Priyadarshi expected to appear before the Special Vigilance Court in Patna for further proceedings. The incident has sparked concern in the education department for its implications of demanding money for documents that students should receive through proper channels.
