The Bihar State Women’s Commission has taken notice of a derogatory comment targeting women from Bihar. The Commission has written to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, urging immediate action. The objectionable statement, allegedly made by Girdhari Lal Sahu, husband of Uttarakhand Minister Rekha Arya, was strongly criticized by the Commission.

The Commission labeled the remark as shameful and insulting, emphasizing its impact on the dignity of Bihar women. Describing the comment as misogynistic, it highlighted the offense caused to women in Bihar. The Commission stressed that such objectification of women is unacceptable and goes against constitutional values and ethics.

Expressing concern over the source of the statement, the Commission noted the contradiction in a minister’s family making such remarks. It called for serious action from the Uttarakhand government and demanded prompt communication of the actions taken. The Commission reiterated the resilience and contributions of Bihar women, emphasizing that any attempt to degrade them is unlawful and socially harmful.

The incident has sparked outrage in Bihar, with various groups condemning the statement and demanding legal repercussions. The Commission warned of strict measures against any future derogatory remarks targeting women. The focus now shifts to the response and actions of the Uttarakhand government in addressing the issue.
