The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) plans to observe the 29th death anniversary of former chief minister Biju Patnaik as ‘Prabada Purusha Divas’ in all constituencies in the state. Senior party leaders announced the programs at a press conference in BJD headquarters. Local leadership has been directed to arrange various activities like garlanding statues and organizing blood donation camps.
The party will conduct intellectual discussions on Biju Patnaik’s role in the freedom struggle and the development of modern Odisha. Frontal organizations of the party will assist in coordinating the events. The day will be dedicated to honoring Biju Patnaik’s contributions and legacy, with rituals like Tila Tarpana and distribution of fruits to the needy.
In Bhubaneswar, the BJD leaders will perform the Tila Tarpana ritual at Bindusagar, followed by garlanding Biju Patnaik’s statue and distributing fruits to patients. An intellectual discussion session will also take place at the party headquarters. Biju Patnaik, a freedom fighter and visionary statesman, played a significant role in shaping Odisha’s development.
