The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) expressed strong disapproval of remarks made by BJP’s Revenue Minister, Suresh Pujari, regarding political ideologies. Pujari claimed that the BJD was on the verge of collapse due to leaders leaving the party regularly, emphasizing that parties without a solid ideological base and reliant on power might struggle in a democratic setup. In response, the BJD criticized Pujari, accusing him of trying to divert attention from internal issues within the BJP.
The BJD spokesperson, Lenin Mohanty, highlighted concerns about weak leadership, mismanagement, and corruption during the BJP’s tenure in Odisha. Mohanty noted a growing public sentiment in favor of former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s return to power. He also addressed the recent entry of former BJD MP Debashish Samantaray into the BJP, stating that while leaders have the freedom to switch parties, Pujari’s comments post-Samantaray’s move were deemed inappropriate and immature.
Referring to a survey projecting a significant victory for BJD in potential elections, Mohanty accused the BJP of resorting to superficial ideological slogans in response. He pointed out that the BJP’s alleged panic mode stemmed from the survey results, prompting the party to target leaders from other political factions amid internal strife and leadership challenges.
