The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj of disrespecting the Constitution and upsetting Dalit and tribal communities. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva called on AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal to apologize for Bharadwaj’s remarks and demanded his expulsion for what he termed a derogatory statement. The controversy arose from Bharadwaj’s comments alleging that the BJP-led NDA strategically appoints Chief Ministers and Presidents to prevent any challenge to the Prime Minister’s authority.
Bharadwaj also asserted that the newly-appointed BJP National President Nitin Nabin lacks the necessary political stature to be considered among the nation’s top leaders. The BJP has criticized Bharadwaj’s remarks as offensive and politically driven, urging the AAP leadership to take responsibility for the issue. Delhi BJP Chief Sachdeva denounced Bharadwaj’s press statement, particularly focusing on his comments regarding the selection of Presidents during the NDA government, which he deemed objectionable.
Sachdeva emphasized the significance of the appointments of Ram Nath Kovind and Droupadi Murmu as Presidents, stating that it brought pride to the country, especially for marginalized communities. He condemned Bharadwaj’s remarks as inappropriate and called for immediate action from Kejriwal against the AAP leader. Sachdeva urged Kejriwal to expel Bharadwaj from the party and issue a public apology for statements that the BJP believes undermine constitutional principles and societal respect.
