The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) for an FIR filed over the disappearance of two inquiry commission reports from the Chief Minister’s Office during the previous BJD government. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari revealed that the missing documents were the Justice A.S. Naidu Commission report on the Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati murder and the RDC inquiry report on the SUM Hospital fire tragedy.
Pujari highlighted that despite efforts to locate the reports after the new government took charge, they were not found in the records. Allegations were made that the files were deliberately concealed or misplaced, as they were not returned to the Home Department during the regime change. The Home Secretary had requested the former Chief Minister to return the reports, but they remained unaccounted for.
The government, suspecting intentional concealment, filed a case at the Capital Police Station due to the unavailability of the inquiry commission reports. The Odisha Home Department initiated a police investigation into the disappearance of these crucial documents during the previous BJD administration. A case has been registered at the Capital Police Station in Bhubaneswar regarding the missing reports.
