BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra accused the Congress-led Karnataka government of diverting a special grant from the Centre for unauthorized purposes. Vijayendra claimed that the funds were not utilized as intended and that a fake utilization certificate was submitted under pressure from the Finance Department.
The alleged misuse involved Rs 1,323.96 crore released by the Centre, which Vijayendra demanded clarification on from the Chief Minister. The funds were meant for specific schemes but were reportedly used elsewhere without proper authorization.
Vijayendra also highlighted concerns about the transfer of funds to neighboring Telangana and the Valmiki Development Corporation scam. Investigations are ongoing into alleged fund diversion through fake accounts, leading to the resignation of a minister in connection with the case.
Referring to the pending Rs 5,000 crore under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, BJP legislators questioned the Chief Minister’s handling of the funds. Vijayendra criticized the Chief Minister for evading questions regarding fund allocation and utilization, urging transparency on the matter.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and MP Govind Karjol and former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA C.N. Ashwath Narayan were present at the press conference.
