Leaders from the BJP and JD(U) have expressed support for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to move to the Rajya Sabha, calling it a respected choice by a senior political figure. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari praised Kumar for his transformative role in Bihar, stating that his decisions are respected by all. Another BJP MP, Dinesh Sharma, highlighted Kumar’s extensive administrative experience and emphasized that his move to the Rajya Sabha is a personal decision.
BJP National Spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam acknowledged Nitish Kumar’s significant stature in Bihar politics and within the NDA alliance. JD(U) leader K.C. Tyagi expressed confidence in Kumar’s success in the Rajya Sabha, noting that his presence will enhance the dignity of the House. Earlier, Nitish Kumar, along with other candidates, filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections, with senior NDA leaders present during the event.
The nomination marked a notable political shift for Nitish Kumar, leading to unrest among some JD(U) members who protested outside his residence. Allegations of a conspiracy to sideline Kumar were raised, with slogans against the BJP and accusations of an ‘Operation Lotus.’ Despite the dissent, Kumar’s decision to move to the Rajya Sabha was supported by various leaders, reflecting his influence and standing in Bihar politics.
