The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named Tarun Chugh and Rajneesh Agarwal as its candidates for the two Rajya Sabha seats from Madhya Pradesh. Agarwal’s selection is viewed as a recognition of his long-standing role within the party, handling various crucial responsibilities such as booth management and election strategy. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and other BJP leaders have extended their congratulations to Agarwal for his nomination.
Agarwal, who has served as the party’s state secretary and state general secretary, is known for his dedication and commitment to the organization. State BJP president Hemant Khandelwal emphasized the party’s tradition of promoting grassroots-level leaders like Agarwal. The Congress, on the other hand, is yet to finalize its nominees and has called for a Legislative Party meeting on June 6 to discuss its strategy for the upcoming elections.
The Congress’s meeting, to be chaired by Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, will involve discussions on the party’s approach for the Rajya Sabha elections. With the BJP having a significant majority in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, it is well-placed to secure two Rajya Sabha seats, while the Congress aims for the third seat with its 63 MLAs. The BJP’s Central Election Committee has unveiled a list of 11 candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls, covering multiple states, with voting scheduled for June 18.
