The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has revealed new state presidents for Haryana, Punjab, Tripura, and Delhi. The appointments, effective immediately, were disclosed in a notification signed by BJP national secretary Arun Singh. In Delhi, Harsh Malhotra, a Union Minister of State, has been appointed as the new party chief, succeeding Virendra Sachdeva.
Dr. Archana Gupta, a radiologist and current General Secretary in the party’s state unit, has been appointed as the new BJP president in Haryana. Meanwhile, Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon will lead the party in Punjab, a state gearing up for Assembly polls next year. Dr. Abhishek Debroy has been named as the new party chief of Tripura.
This reshuffling of top leadership in the party’s state units is the first major change since Nitin Nabin took over as party president five months ago. The new state presidents are expected to meet with party president Nitin Nabin and the Central leadership soon to kickstart the process of selecting a new team of office-bearers.
The appointment of the new Punjab BJP chief is particularly significant as the state gears up for next year’s crucial electoral battle. With the Aam Aadmi Party currently in power in Punjab, the BJP aims to capitalize on the political landscape. The recent shift of AAP MPs to the BJP has further boosted the party’s electoral prospects.
