As voting commenced in the first phase of West Bengal elections, Agnimitra Paul, BJP candidate for Asansol South Assembly constituency, voiced optimism, stating, “We are going to win.” Paul criticized the ruling party, alleging attempts to manipulate public opinion through misinformation.
Expressing concerns over the conduct of the polls, Paul accused the TMC of irregularities and claimed the presence of outsiders and goons. She urged the Election Commission to ensure a fair election process free from malpractices.
In a separate statement, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh highlighted the need for development in Bengal under the BJP government. He praised PM Narendra Modi’s efforts in addressing key issues and emphasized the party’s commitment to bringing progress to the state.
Polling is underway in 152 Assembly constituencies across 16 districts in the initial phase of the West Bengal elections, with a significant voter turnout observed. Security measures, including a large deployment of Central Armed Police Forces, have been implemented to maintain peace during the voting process.
Despite some reports of EVM malfunctions at certain polling stations, most constituencies experienced smooth voting operations. The second phase of polling for the remaining seats is scheduled for April 29, with the counting of votes set for May 4.
