BJP candidate Agnimitra Paul praised the recent polling in West Bengal, calling it unprecedented for its peaceful conduct. She commended the Election Commission officials, including Chief Election Commissioner of India Gyanesh Kumar and West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal, for ensuring a smooth and violence-free voting process.
Paul emphasized the absence of violence, arson, or killings during the polling, a departure from the state’s historical election challenges. She also noted the remarkable voter turnout, ranging from 92% to 97%, which she described as extraordinary and a testament to the democratic spirit of the people of West Bengal.
In response to concerns raised by other political party candidates regarding the monitoring of EVM strongrooms, Paul stressed the importance of vigilance by all stakeholders in the democratic process. She urged all parties to monitor the process, emphasizing the need to avoid blind trust in politics.
Paul expressed confidence in the overall conduct of the elections, highlighting the difference from previous election cycles. She called on all political parties to respect the election results once declared, urging them not to allege rigging and to accept the outcome with humility.
