BJP candidates Satish Poonia and Alka Gurjar are set to file their nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections on Monday. They will depart from the BJP State Headquarters to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly for the nomination process, accompanied by senior party members and workers.
Madan Rathore, BJP Rajasthan President, expressed pride in Poonia and Gurjar’s nomination to the Rajya Sabha, highlighting their consistent dedication to the party. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized the benefits Rajasthan would gain from their representation in the Upper House.
Dr. Satish Poonia, a Rajya Sabha candidate, emphasized the party’s recognition of hard work and dedication, citing his own journey from an ordinary worker to a respected leader. Dr. Alka Gurjar, another candidate, acknowledged the trust of party workers in granting them this opportunity, pledging collaborative efforts for Rajasthan’s development.
The BJP’s Central Election Committee named Poonia and Alka Gurjar as Rajasthan’s Rajya Sabha nominees, replacing Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu. The upcoming voting on June 18 is expected to secure two seats for the BJP, reflecting the party’s current strength in the assembly.
Political analysts view the selection of Poonia and Gurjar as a strategic move to garner support from the influential Jat and Gurjar communities in Rajasthan. This decision aims to balance social representation and strengthen the party’s position for future state elections.
