India’s transition from a nation once criticized for corruption to the world’s fifth-largest economy is attributed to a significant shift in governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Speaking at the Navabharat Sadas event celebrating 12 years of the Modi government, Chandrasekhar emphasized that while the country and its core values remained constant, a new governance approach had led to a remarkable transformation.
Chandrasekhar highlighted that India is now acknowledged as a major global economic power due to the governance model implemented by the Modi administration. He refuted earlier claims by critics like Rahul Gandhi and Raghuram Rajan, who doubted India’s manufacturing sector’s potential for success. Chandrasekhar pointed out that India’s growth in manufacturing has propelled it to the status of the world’s fifth-largest economy.
Under the Make in India initiative, Chandrasekhar noted the significant shift from importing nearly 90% of mobile phones before 2014 to manufacturing 98% domestically today. He praised the government for fostering an environment that nurtures the aspirations of young Indians, transforming them into a confident workforce with international acclaim. Unlike the Opposition’s focus on freebies, Chandrasekhar highlighted the Modi government’s emphasis on policy formulation and effective implementation.
MLA V. Muraleedharan, in his keynote address at the event, lauded the Centre’s 12-year tenure for its focus on development, good governance, national security, and self-reliance. He commended the government’s achievements in promoting transparency and eradicating corruption from governance structures. Muraleedharan emphasized that the Modi administration has demonstrated the compatibility of progress and welfare in tandem.
An exhibition showcasing the government’s welfare initiatives and accomplishments over the past 12 years was also part of the event.
